Bakingili Village....SAVING GRACE FOUNDATION EDUCATES 150 GIRLS ON MENSTRUAL HYGIENE May 28 was celebrated as World Menstrual Hygiene Day 2022 under the theme "Making Menstruation A Normal Fact of Life by 2030".Limbe-based SAVING GRACE FOUNDATION visited Bakingili village and with the blessings of the traditional ruler, HRH Chief Elive Joseph, about 150 young girls were educated on:■ Menstrual Hygiene Management ■ How to Calculate their Menstrual Cycle■ Sex Education■ Personal Hygiene during Menstruation The Saving Grace Foundation Team also shared sanitary pads to the girls. For the Founder and President of Saving Grace Foundation, Nji Fobah Frida, the World Menstrual Hygiene Day is always an opportunity to emphasize that "many young girls and women lack adequate information on how to manage their menstrual periods such that during these periods some young girls do not go to school or work. Also, some African cultures do not promote menstrual awareness campaigns as it is seen as a taboo and stigmatized, thus leaving these ladies uninformed about menstrual hygiene, waste disposal and lots more which in turn affect their health. So our duty is to protect our young girls from these pitfalls." The goal of the World Menstrual Hygiene Day is to create awareness among every individual regarding the challenges and hardships girls and women face during menstruation. The day is celebrated to break taboos surrounding menstruation, raise awareness of the importance of good menstrual hygiene management worldwide. The day also provides an opportunity to actively advocate for the integration of Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) into global, national and local policies and programs. To create social awareness about maintaining menstrual hygiene, WASH United, a German non-profit advocacy and education group launched Menstrual Hygiene Day in 2014. May 28 was chosen to observe Menstrual Hygiene Day because on average the menstrual cycle for most women is 28 days in length and the menstruation period for most women is for five days each month. Hence, the date was chosen as 28/5. Join SAVING GRACE FOUNDATION (+237 679 26 34 36) impact our young girls. #investinlimbe | Invest in Limbe
