INFO:
TRAP TOX- beware of pitfalls! Your trapezius muscle is an important contributor to your upper body strength. It helps stabilize the shoulders, it’s used when you shrug, lift a heavy bag, pick up a child….. Some would argue that the upper trap gets sore because it’s too weak— and therefore putting Botox into it will actually aggravate the problem. The jury is still out as to whether or not injecting botulinum toxin into a large muscle like the trapezius over long periods of time will be detrimental to our physical health. So my feeling is this: Do NOT do this for cosmetic reasons. Who cares if you have a “prominent” trapezius? Try it once if you actually feel a tightness in that area that makes you chronically uncomfortable but give it time after injection to truly assess the results. If it actually helps you, then do it as infrequently as you can to maintain results. I suspect that most people will not be doing this year after year. Time to find a new muscle to inject, huh?
