🎶Let’s talk about sex, baby🎶 I would say that few people have great experiences with their parents explaining sex to them. Many parents never told us anything, or they just gave us a book to read. Some parents just had one really uncomfortable conversation with way too many details, and then never spoke of it again. I am not an expert, but my gut says that little conversations over the years, with our children driving the pace and subject matter, might be a good solution. We had some really wise parents of older kids share with my group at church and these are the main take aways I got: (1) Answer your kids’ questions as honestly as you feel is appropriate. And keep answering their questions if they keep digging. (2) Ask questions often about what they are hearing about relationships, dating, etc. This way, your kids drive the pace and depth of the conversations you’re having.
